Building Automation Services (BAS) is an environmental controls firm founded in 2005 with the vision to offer unparalleled design, effectiveness, and support to the environmental controls industry. While BAS’s competitors often focus on cost intensive mechanical solutions with proprietary embedded controls which often limit overall building efficiency, BAS teams with direct clients, mechanical firms, engineers, and architects who have a vision for sustainable solutions.

BAS works diligently to offer customers objective analysis and enhanced solutions that focus on cost-effective controls. This approach both dramatically improves the operation of existing mechanical investments and enhances overall building efficiency. Our approach generally empowers our clients to retain much, if not all, of their existing mechanical investments while dramatically improving the operation of the existing mechanical system.

Our relational, hands-on approach to creating and executing a plan that will meet the needs of our customers has led to the expansion of our service area to the Raleigh-Durham and Eastern North Carolina markets.

Our Founder

Robert Koonts

Anyone who knows Robert Koonts immediately recognizes the dual nature of his passions, which are rooted in IT technology and a deep creativity. This uncommon combination fuels the vision, drive, and innovation that he brings to the BAS organization, and is evident in the way that his team and its services are structured.

Robert's background harkens back to the original 'IT' company so many in the field started with: RadioShack. From that first industry role, he progressed through other organizations such as EDS, Inacom, Impact Consulting Services, AT&T, Targacept, Verizon, and Aerstone. Throughout his career, he served in roles that include: IT Analyst, Director of Production Operations, Data Networking Account Manager, Vice President of Business Development, and Director of Information Technology, all of which helped shape the solid base that serves him well as CEO of Building Automation Services.

Robert lives in High Point with his wife, Serena, and son, Aiden.
